Do you remember where we left off? Barney and Robin were making out. Yeah, I know! Crazy, huh? Well, hold on to your hats and glasses, folks: it’s going to get ugly. Barney and Robin slept together. I said it.

After making a pact to NEVER tell anyone and go back to the way it was before, Barney promptly freaks out. What is this strange sensation he is feeling? That’s guilt, Barney, look it up. He broke the Bro Code… “Never sleep with your best friend’s ex.” He has to get rid of this horrible feeling! The guilt is causing him to buy all those wacky gadgets from SkyMall (you all know you’ve wanted to get that hot dog cooker thing at some point in the past). What will he do? How about hiring an unemployed Marshall as legal council to find a loophole in the Bro Code? Sounds good. Besides, Marshall won’t be able to tell anyone because of attorney/client privilege. Nice.

Meanwhile, it is Ted’s 30th birthday. Man, I’m getting old. The gang is throwing a not-so-surprise surprise party for him on the roof, complete with a goat named Missy. I know, it sounds strange, but Lily rescued the goat from the slaughter house and it looks cute in a party hat. More on that later.

Marshall can’t find a loophole in the Bro Code – the thing is iron clad. The only way for Barney to get rid of his guilt is to come clean with Ted. So he does. Weird thing is – Robin already told him and he forgave her. Weirder thing is – Ted won’t forgive Barney. Ted wants to put Barney in the box “Things I have no use for.” Ouch. Ted storms away, leaving Barney to nurse his wounds and a scotch. Hey – I think Ted and Barney just broke up.

In the final scene, Future Ted is about to explain what unspeakable things the goat did in the bathroom during his birthday party. But wait! He has things mixed up! The goat did something unspeakable in the bathroom during his 31st birthday party after Robin had moved in, not his 30th … Excuse me – did he say that Robin had moved in? Interesting…

My favorite moment of the episode: When Barney explains the origins of the Bro Code, written by Barnabus Stinson in the year 1776 at the request of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. He wrote it on the back of the Constitution to save paper.

What do YOU think? Should Ted forgive Barney? Have you ever broken the Bro Code? What would you buy from SkyMall? Share all your thoughts with us. We won’t hold them against you. Well, not unless you ask us to.

I wish I would've caught this - I'd love to see Marshall and Barney poring over the Bro Code, lol. Great recap though. I can't believe they went there with Robin and Barney. No no no!

I would buy my dog everything they have for pets: the water fountain water dish, the monogrammed leashes, collars, coats, and beds. . . . all of it. Because nothing says "luxe life" like having a dog living better than most humans. And it doesn't surprise me that Benjamin Franklin was involved in the creation of the Bro Code: dude was a lush and he loved him the ladies. . . . "I invented bifocals you know, madam. . . ."
