So Robin still doesn’t have a job. She’s been auditioning right and left, but no joy. And, oddly enough, Metro News 1 is just now getting around to sending her her fan mail. Geeze, take you time why doncha!? While going through the letters (of which only 60% are from inmates), the gang watches poor little Lottery Girl, the butt of a series of Barney jokes. Robin would never get that desperate, right? Yeah. That was before she opened a letter from US Immigration. She has four days to get a job (in her field, mind you) or she will be deported. Fun times.

Was it really that good of an idea for Robin and Ted to become roomies? I mean, they are exes... it could be ugly. On the other hand, it could be very, very convenient.

Hurricane Heather hits New York! Don't worry... it’s just Ted’s immature, irresponsible, tree hugging, shoplifting sister. What’s worse? Barney thinks she’s hot. The answer? Keep Heather away from Barney, of course. Good luck with that one! Did I mention that Lily has an acute case of Can’t Keep Secrets During the Holiday Season? Yeah.

MacLaren’s has a crazy bartender named Doug (Will Sasso) who has a temper but is very protective of the gang. So when some non-regulars sit in the favorite booth, Doug freaks and asks the squatters to step outside and for the boys to join him. That’s right, we’re gonna have ourselves a fist fight.

So there is a naked man sitting on Ted’s couch. I’m getting ahead of myself…

Ted meets a girl in the elevator at work. I use the term “meets” quite loosely, as it take them a whole week’s worth of elevator rides to do the actual meeting. Yet Ted, still broken after his failed almost-marriage, finally gets up the nerve to ask her out. Yay! Now, back to the naked man…

Lily has a problem. She has a friend from work, see, whom she wants to hang out with outside of the elementary school walls. The problem? Said friend, Jillian (Jamie-Lynn Sigler), is a Woo Girl. What is a Woo Girl, you might ask? They are girls that say “Woo!” after everything and wear tiny cowboy hats. Lily and Robin, who was tagging along, are mortified, and Barney, who shows up as if he has a Woo! Radar, is ecstatic. For without Woo! Girls, there would be no Girls Gone Wild. And that’s so bad?

With Alyson Hannigan preggers in real life, I was wondering if the baby issue would be broached between Lily and Marshall. This episode answered my wonderings, but also, to my great surprise (although anyone could have seen it coming from a mile away), applied the very same subject matter to another member of the group. Need a hint? Visit the amazing www.NotAFathersDay.com to find out, and while you’re there, buy some merchandise! On to the show!

After a bad break-up (we’re talking leave-you-at-the-alter bad), Ted is fine. Seriously, guys. He’s fine. And it is this “fineness” that is unnerving to the gang. Why won’t he cry on their shoulders? Or binge eat? Of even show one shred of sadness? I mean, really, the wedding was just yesterday. Yesterday!

Stella’s sister is in a quandary and out thousands of dollars: Her granola-vegan-dread-lock infused wedding is off because her fiancĂ© ran off with the vitamin girl. Ted and Stella (through no fault of Ted) decide to take over her wedding on Shelter Island and pay her back. So there you have it… Ted and Stella are getting married in a few days. Yikes.

Everything is changing: Ted is moving in with Stella in New Jersey, Marshall and Lilly are moving to the expensive money-pit of an apartment in Dowisetrepla, Robin is taking a job in Japan, and Barney… well, he’s pretty much the same. Except for the whole continually-dressing-up-in-old-man-make-up thing.

Is there a place you hate? I have an entire town that I hate (it’s a place where dreams go to die). But my hatred for that city-that-must-not-be-named cannot compare to the ill will that Ted wishes upon the state of New Jersey. I mean, he has made t-shirts about it, uses it as a euphemism for poo, and even… well, why don’t you just Continue Reading…

Marshall has a problem. In his time spent as an unemployed lawyer, he has spiraled into a funk that can only be rivaled by his underwear (which he now wears out of the house). What is the one thing that can pull him out of this depression? A symbol of his first carefree, happy, innocent days in The Big Apple: the best burger in New York.

The season finale starts with Ted and Stella having a lovely little breakfast – until Stella invites Ted to her sister’s wedding next November. Ted might not be talking to Barney but he still lives by Barney’s Dating Etiquette. The rule this time - never make plans with a women if it’s farther in the future than the time you’ve been dating. The wedding is in 6 months but they’ve only been dating 3. So Ted panics and dumps her.
