So there is a naked man sitting on Ted’s couch. I’m getting ahead of myself…
Ted meets a girl in the elevator at work. I use the term “meets” quite loosely, as it take them a whole week’s worth of elevator rides to do the actual meeting. Yet Ted, still broken after his failed almost-marriage, finally gets up the nerve to ask her out. Yay! Now, back to the naked man…

Robin is on a blind date with, frankly, a loser. When Ted walks into the apartment and sees said loser (Mitch) on the couch sans clothes, he is only slightly surprised. He has walked in on a lot of weird things in that apartment (Missy the Goat, a robbery, and Barney pulling a Houdini complete with water tank, to name a few). A naked guy isn’t really that weird, is it?
Mitch claims that “The Naked Man” gets him some action two out of three times. He just strips down, the girl walks in, thinks it’s funny, and sleeps with him. Hmmmm…
I’m afraid to tell you that “The Naked Man” works on Robin. Robin! For shame! But this little act of sluttiness sets of a chain reaction: Barney simply must try it, he dares Ted to do the same on his date with Elevator Girls, Marshall is disgusted at their lackadaisical treatment of sex, and Lily claims she can make a list of 50 Reasons to Have Sex.
The best moment of this episode is when, while on the phone to each other, Ted and Barney discuss the pose they will be in when the poor chick walks in to behold “The Naked Man.” My two personal favorites were “Superman” and “The Burt Reynolds.”
Cut to Marshall and Lily’s apartment where Lily is trying her own version of ““The Naked Man.” Nice.
Ted almost chickens out. What if Elevator Girl is his soul mate? Nah, she’s mean. Go for it, Ted! No, remember, Mitch said “The Naked Man” works two out of three times…
Well, Barney doesn’t get any. He is left to wander the streets of New York without any clothes. Good thing his body rocks!
What do YOU think? Will you try “The Naked Man?” How ashamed of Robin are you? Give us your Two Cents… We’ll buy Barney some clothes.
Next Week: The Fight
